Was reading in Ezekiel 24 this morning. After reading the chapter, I read though a commentary on the passage, (The Bible Knowledge Commentary), and something in the commentary caught my eye. Here is a quote from the commentary along with the passage that caught my eye.
Alright…I am having one of those wake up in the middle of the night jet lag spells…so I thought I would post a quick entry about our first day…
I am, of course very tired as usual after a safe but very bumpy airplane ride from Chicago to Frankfurt. The weather when we landed was cloudy, foggy and cold, about 32F… basically just like home…
OK…It has been a crazy couple of weeks of heads downs planning, configuring and testing…but I believe that the plans for broadcasting the Willow Creek Association Germany’s Leadership Conference 2010 from Germany to Switzerland are coming together. I am so amazed at all the smart people who have come together from Germany and the U.S. to get this broadcast ready. Our hope is to make some significant progress in using web streaming to replace satellite as a broadcast medium. I am not so naive as to think that we will actually say goodbye to satellite broadcasting just because of our efforts…but I would like to think that we are coming closer to a more cost effective, more flexible high quality broadcast platform every time to do this.
Just taking a moment to go before you God to offer our efforts to you and to remember why we are here in Costa Rica… I pray that you might bear fruit through this effort, that we would deepen our friendship with our brothers and sister in Christ in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic and that we might be successful in doing our small part to connect educational resources to people in need through technology.
This post goes out to my friends in Germany and Switzerland who are working on the live broadcast of the Leitungskongress, 28.-30. Januar 2010 from Rheinstetten, Germany to Winterthur, Switzerland.
Thanks to help from our friends and Mankin Media, Multicast Media and Akamai’s Open Video Player, I have been able to assemble a decent, lightweight video player that should playback high quality video…I will be sending the player out directly to the team since it has been optimized for the event.
No room for them in the inn...a phrase taken from the Christmas story account found in Luke Chapter 2:7. That phrase, “no room for them in the inn,” stood out to me this Christmas season for some reason. I guess, when I thought about it a little, I expected more from God. I mean, here is the God of the entire universe sending His Son to this planet, knowing what was going to happen to him when he grew up. God must have known that Jesus would grow up to be rejected by humanity and hung on a cross, to die for the sins of all who would believe. You would have thought that by knowing this the God of the Universe could have at least gotten him a room.
It is with a considerable amount mixed emotion that I write this post. However, after much prayer and considerable processing, I have decided to resign from my position of leading Information Technology at Willow Creek Community Church. The responsibilities for I.T. have been restructured as follows.
I recently entered a video contest sponsored by Smart Technologies. http://www.smarttech.com. Smart Technologies provide cool educational technology like the SmartBoard. They were calling for people to make a promo video for them highlighting our use of Smart Board without actually mentioning the name of our school.
Every day, starting today, through Friday, please VOTE for our VIDEO! Smarttech has some pretty cool prizes for the winners of this contest. Items that my childrens’ school could really use. Here’s what we could win:
